People who move around a lot seek out hotels. Its part of the travelling deal, but you dont have to put up with less than acceptable service. Let me give you some advice on how to get the best deal you can from your hotel experience.
1. Never take a room near an lift, or close to an ice maker, or any other kind of machinery. It may seem fine before you go to bed. But afterwards when the lights are out you'll become aware of the shakings and become aware of the smallest noises all the way until morning.

***** 5 star hotels - simply sumptuous luxury.
**** 4 star hotels - still quite magnificent.
*** 3 star hotels - probably the quality of hotel most of us use.
** 2 star hotels - still acceptable, but with less frills.
* 1 star hotels - the economy range. | 2. If you cannot get a room removed from outside sounds, don't forget to stow away some earplugs prior to departing. It's possible to get by by ramming tissue paper within your ears, but a proper pair of earplugs are like to have more effect and provide better comfort, allowing you to have a vastly better overnight slumber.
3. Examine the alarm clock where you're staying to make sure it has been turned off. Every so often earlier hotel visitors with a strange sense of humour set the room alarm clock to a ridiculous time in the middle of the night for a practical joke. They probably think it hilarious as they do it, but I'll bet that when it rings at 5am, you won't laugh as you suddenly come awake and find yourself in darkness, not knowing where you are with an alarm clock making a deafening noise to waken the dead!
4. Prior to slipping between the sheets, bear in mind the route from your bed to the toilet, and make sure the path is completely clear. Should you find the need to visit the bathroom later you normally won't find it difficult to get off to sleep again. But you're likely to stay wide awake should you bang your foot on the side of a shoe cast aside somewhere between the bed and the bathroom.
5. Check carefully that the curtains on each window have no little gaps in them. An early morning shaft of sunlight focussing on your face through a crack in the curtains can rouse you from your dreams quicker than you might believe. It's always the end part of a night's sleep that are the best. Don't ruin such a special time.
But remember, at the end of the day its your hotel experience, and you're free to make your own choices. However my advice have kept me in good stead when I'm on the move and staying in hotel rooms, and with that in mind you could do worse than try them.
