Those of us who travel need hotels. Its part of the travelling deal, but you dont have to put up with service that's not good enough. You should use these suggestions to get a really good deal from your hotel experience.
1. Avoid taking a room near by an lift, or close to an ice maker, or any other kind of machinery. Everything might appear perfect before you go to bed. However, with the room darkened you will feel the movements and hear barely audible sounds all the way until morning.

It's possible to get by by shoving soft paper within your ears, however, a correctly made product of earplugs will work much better and give a more natural feeling, allowing you to have a greatly improved nights sleep.
3. Take a close look at the alarm clock in your room to make sure it has been turned off. It has been known that prior hotel visitors with a strange sense of humour set the room alarm clock to a time in the 'wee small hours' for a bit of fun. Probably, they find it most amusing when they do it, however, it won't be you laughing uncontrolably at 3am as you suddenly come awake and find yourself in darkness, not knowing where you are with an alarm clock ringing loudly!
4. Before you finally bed down, bear in mind the way from your cosy bed to the bathroom, and be certain that there are no obstruction in the way. If a trip to the bathroom become necessary later you normally won't find it difficult to get off to sleep again. But it wont be so easy if you injure your toes on something hard and unyielding carelessly left on the path from your bed to the bathroom.
5. Make a careful check that the drapes on each window are tightly shut. A ray of sunshine landing on you sleeping face through a gap in the drapes will bring you awake much faster than you might believe. And its often the closing moments of your sleep that have no equal. Don't ruin such a special time.
But remember, when all's said and done it's you that's booking the room, and the world's your oyster. Of course my ideas on living in hotels always help me when I'm on the move and staying in hotel rooms, so I'm recommending those strategies to you.
