People who move around a lot have a need for hotels. It's the way it's always been, but you shouldn't have to tolerate substandard service. You can use this advice to get a really good deal from your hotel experience.
1. Avoid taking a room near an lift, or next to an ice machine, or any other kind of machinery. You may be satisfied with how things are before you go to bed. However, as you lie in the dark you'll become aware of the tremblings and become aware of the tiniest of noises right through until daybreak.

It's possible to get by by ramming soft paper inside your ears, but an approved couple of earplugs are like to have more effect and feel much more comfortable, giving you a far superior rest for the night.
3. Take a close look at the alarm clock in your room to make sure it has been turned off. Sometimes prior hotel visitors whose sense of humor is wierd set the room alarm clock to a ridiculous time in the middle of the night for a practical joke. It may seem funny to them at the time, however, it won't be you laughing uncontrolably at 3am when you come awake all of a sudden in a strange darkened room while an alarm clock ringing loudly!
4. Before you finally bed down, keep in mind the route from your bed to the toilet, and make sure the path is completely clear. Should you find the need to visit the bathroom later you can usually fall asleep again with ease. But you're likely to stay wide awake if you stub your toe on something hard and unyielding left lying between you and the toilet door.
5. Make a careful check that the drapes covering the windows are fully closed. An early morning shaft of sunlight focussing on your face through a gap in the drapes can awaken you more easily than you might believe. And its often the closing moments of your sleep that have no equal. Be careful not to interfere with those precious moments.
