Every so often former guests whose sense of humor is wierd set the alarm clock in the hotel room to an unforgiveably early hour for a practical joke. Probably, they find it most amusing when they do it, but I'll bet that when it rings at 5am, you won't laugh when you wake up and find yourself in darkness, not knowing where you are as an alarm clock clanging in your ears!
4. Before you finally bed down, bear in mind the direct path from the bed to where the toilet is, and be certain that there are no obstruction in the way. If you need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night falling asleep again is often easy enough. But you're likely to stay wide awake if you injure your toes on something hard and unyielding carelessly left somewhere on the route between toilet and bed.
5. Check carefully that the curtains on each window are fully closed. Bright sunlight in the morning focussing on your face through a hole in the blinds will bring you awake much faster than you really want to know. It's always the end part of a night's sleep that rank way above the rest. Be careful not to interfere with such a special time.
But remember, let's bear in mind what happens in the hotel is up to you, and you can do what you like. But my ideas on living in hotels have kept me in good stead out on the road when hotels are a necessity, and with that in mind you could do worse than try them.
