Anyone who travels want hotels. It's the way it's always been, but there's no reason why you should suffer less than acceptable service. Let me give you some advice on how to get the best out of your hotel stay.
1. Dont get a room next to an elevator, or in the vicinity of an ice machine, or any other kind of vending machine. Everything might appear perfect before you go to bed. But the next thing you'll know with the room darkened you'll become aware of the vibrations and become aware of barely audible sounds all night long.

It's possible to get by by stuffing soft paper in your ears, but a proper pair of earplugs will be much more effective and feel much more comfortable, giving you a vastly better nights sleep.
3. Check your hotel room alarm clock to produce sure it has been turned off. It has been known that prior hotel visitors with a strange sense of humour set the room alarm clock to an unforgiveably early hour for a practical joke. 4. Prior to slipping between the sheets, bear in mind the direct path from the bed to where the toilet is, and be certain that there are no obstruction in the way. Should you find the need to visit the bathroom later you can usually fall asleep again with ease. But it wont be so easy if you injure your toes on some hard object carelessly left somewhere between the bed and the bathroom.
5. Be sure that the blinds on each window are fully closed. An early morning shaft of sunlight landing on you sleeping face through a gap in the drapes can awaken you more easily than you might believe. It's always those last hours of sleep that stand superior. Don't ruin such a special time.
Of course, when all's said and done it's you that's booking the room, and the world's your oyster. But my way of coping with a hotel room are useful to me out on the road when hotels are a necessity, so I recommend giving them a try.
