Understanding Marriott Hotels-Downtown Portland
People who move around a lot have a need for hotels. It's the way it's always been, but you dont have to put up with unnacceptable service . Here are a few tips to get the most you can expect from your hotel experience.
1. Avoid taking a room next to an elevator, or next to an ice machine, or other type of machinery. It may seem fine prior to going to bed. But the next thing you'll know when the lights are out you'll become aware of the shakings and hear the smallest noises throughout the night.

***** 5 star hotels - simply sumptuous luxury.
**** 4 star hotels - still quite magnificent.
*** 3 star hotels - probably the quality of hotel most of us use.
** 2 star hotels - still acceptable, but with less frills.
* 1 star hotels - the economy range. | 2. If you cannot get a room away from external noises, bear in mind to bring along some earplugs before setting off. You can improvise by shoving tissue paper into your ears, but a proper pair of earplugs will be much more effective and provide better comfort, giving you a vastly better rest for the night.
3. Take a close look at the alarm clock in your room to make sure it has been turned off. Every so often prior guests with a strange sense of humour set the alarm clock in the hotel room to an unforgiveably early hour as their idea of a joke. They probably think it hilarious as they do it, but I'll bet that when it rings at 5am, you won't laugh when you wake up in a strange darkened room as an alarm clock ringing loudly!
4. Before getting into bed for the night, keep in mind the route from your bed to the toilet, and be certain that there are no obstruction in the way. Should you find the need to visit the bathroom later you normally won't find it difficult to get off to sleep again. But you're likely to stay wide awake should you bang your foot on the heel of one of your shoes discarded somewhere on the route between toilet and bed.
5. Be sure that the blinds on each window are tightly shut. A ray of sunshine focussing on your face through a crack in the curtains can awaken you more easily than you'd ever think. It's always those last hours of sleep that stand superior. Don't upset those precious moments.
On the other hand, at the end of the day it's your life, and what you do is up to you. But these strategies are useful to me when I'm on the move and staying in hotel rooms, and with that in mind you could do worse than try them.
