Those of us who travel have a need for hotels. It's the way it's always been, but you shouldn't have to tolerate service that's not good enough. You can use this advice to get a really good deal from your hotel stay.
1. Dont get a room close to an lift, or near by an ice machine, or other type of vending machine. You may be satisfied with how things are prior to going to bed. But afterwards with the room darkened you will feel the movements and become aware of barely audible sounds all the way until morning.

***** 5 star hotels - simply sumptuous luxury.
**** 4 star hotels - still quite magnificent.
*** 3 star hotels - probably the quality of hotel most of us use.
** 2 star hotels - still acceptable, but with less frills.
* 1 star hotels - the economy range. | 2. If a suitable room can't be obtained removed from outside sounds, bear in mind to bring along some earplugs prior to departing. You can improvise by shoving toilet paper into your ears, but a proper pair of earplugs will be much more effective and provide better comfort, allowing you to have a much better overnight slumber.
3. Take a close look at the alarm clock in your room to make sure it has been turned off. Every so often earlier hotel visitors whose idea of funny is not yours set the room alarm clock to some ungodly hour for a bit of fun. It may seem funny to them at the time, but you wont laugh at 4am when you come awake all of a sudden in a strange darkened room with an alarm clock clanging in your ears!
4. Before getting into bed for the night, bear in mind the path you need to take between your bed and the bathroom, and be certain that there are no obstruction in the way. If you need to go to the toilet in the middle of the night falling asleep again is often easy enough. But it wont be so easy if you injure your toes on the heel of one of your shoes left lying on the path from your bed to the bathroom.
5. Make a careful check that the drapes covering the windows have no little gaps in them. A glare of sun penetrating your sweet dreams through a gap in the drapes can awaken you more easily than you really want to know. You know it's the final moments of slumber that rank way above the rest. Don't upset those precious moments.
But remember, let's bear in mind what happens in the hotel is up to you, and what you do is up to you. However my advice have kept me in good stead out on the road when hotels are a necessity, so why not try these tips.
